HRDC ‘Classic Alfa Challenge’ encompasses 750 – 116 series Alfa Romeos in a single driver, ‘Sprint’ format of 30-minutes race with 15-minutes qualification.
This series runs in amalgamation with the HRDC ‘Allstars’ with separate results for each series.

Historic motorsport is a constantly fluid arena where the cut-off dates move with the emerging interest in younger cars. The increase in popularity of Group 1 Touring Cars of the 1970s and early ’80s with generations of competitors, who witnessed these cars at a younger age, has seen a growing demand for a dedicated Race Series that will serve these cars and their competitors properly, providing exciting races for both themselves and spectators alike.

HRDC HQ to bring you the best season possible. In doing so, we have decided to bring back an iconic race title for our 1958 – 1966 Touring Cars – ‘Top Hat’. I debuted this title in 1998 when launching the first long-distance, 2-driver pitstop race for pre-’66 Touring Cars at Silverstone. It was a game-changer at the time. Longer races, with optional two-driver teams became the much-needed antidote to the normal short 15-20-minute single-driver sprint races of the day. Top Hat Racing expanded to become synonymous with fielding a wide range of historic race series and really advanced the status of racing pre-’66 Touring Cars in particular. Horizons quickly broadened and racing these cars in Europe developed into unforgettable forays to iconic circuits such as Spa, Chimay, Nurburgring, Dijon, Pau and Montlhéry. Whilst it is early days with this exercise, we are hopeful to bring European Top Hat races to the HRDC calendar.
Goodwood
Since the HRDC started, it has held an annual ‘season-opening’ track day event at Goodwood. Aimed at blowing the cobwebs out of the winter recess, it has become a ‘must-do’ event for HRDC members to get out on track and engage in the convivial atmosphere of a very busy paddock.
The HRDC runs an ‘open house’ policy at this meeting and anyone interested in seeing what the HRDC has to offer is welcome to spectate.
